  1. Shift your weight onto one hip and place one hand in a pocket.
  2. Breathe out before smiling so the expression stays soft.

Hair Tuck

Create a candid moment

  1. Look down as you tuck a small section behind one ear.
  2. Let the other hand hang naturally instead of posing both arms.

Touch the hair lightly and keep the fingers relaxed.

Look to Light

Use a clean profile

  1. Turn the body about 30 degrees towards the window.
  2. Keep the chin level and let the eyes follow the light.

One Arm Up

Build an easy curve

  1. Lift one arm loosely above the head without locking the elbow.
  2. Shift the hips in the opposite direction for an asymmetric line.

Keep the shoulder down even while the arm is raised.

FixBend the elbow softly and keep the shoulder dropped away from the neck.

Hand on Hip

Confident, not rigid

  1. Rest the fingertips at the hip instead of pressing the whole hand.
  2. Angle the opposite shoulder slightly towards the camera.

Soften the wrist and avoid pushing the elbow straight out.

Crossed-Arm Laugh

Give a strong pose movement

  1. Cross the arms loosely with both hands still visible.
  2. Look away from the lens and laugh through the next frame.

Keep the forearms low so the shoulders stay open.

Stool Lean

Change the height

  1. Sit near the front of the stool and raise one knee slightly.
  2. Bring one hand near the chin and let the other arm fall forward.

Lengthen through the waist before leaning into the pose.

Floor Sit

Casual and grounded

  1. Raise one knee and fold the other leg comfortably underneath.
  2. Rest the hands lightly around the knee without gripping.

Sit on an angle rather than facing the camera squarely.

Wall Lean

Use the setting

  1. Place one shoulder lightly against the wall and keep the hips free.
  2. Look past the camera as if someone has just entered the room.

Do not flatten the whole back against the wall.

Walk In

Add natural motion

  1. Take one small step towards the camera at half speed.
  2. Let the arms swing and hold the expression until the next step.

Use short steps so the body stays controlled and sharp.

Common mistakeTaking long strides that blur the face and body.

FixUse short half-speed steps and hold the expression until the next step.

Look Back

Show another angle

  1. Turn the body away first, then bring one shoulder back.
  2. Look over the shoulder while keeping the neck long.

Turn through the upper body instead of twisting only the neck.

Common mistakeTwisting only the neck while the feet stay planted forward.

Overhead Stretch

Finish loose and easy

  1. Raise both arms with bent elbows and softly cross the wrists.
  2. Close the eyes, breathe out and let the torso curve naturally.

Keep the hands relaxed and the shoulders away from the ears.

Common mistakeRaising locked arms with shoulders shrugged to the ears.
